Mumbai-based fintech Fundly.ai closed a $4 million equity round announced September 8, co-led by returning backers Accel and Multiply Ventures. Former RBL Bank executive director Rajeev Ahuja joined the round alongside other angel investors, and the startup pulled in an additional $900,000 in venture debt from Alteria Capital.
The capital will push Fundly.ai deeper into what remains one of India's least-digitized commercial arteries: the pharmaceutical supply chain. Founder and CEO Amit Chawla put it bluntly in the company's statement: "India's medicine distribution runs on WhatsApp, phone calls and paper ledgers. We're building the coordination layer where ordering, payments and credit finally talk to each other."
That coordination layer is not theoretical. Since its 2021 founding by Chawla and co-founder Shreeram V Ramanathan, Fundly.ai has embedded lending, commerce and payments infrastructure into the pharma distribution network, connecting retailers with verified suppliers and integrating with distributors' ERP systems. The platform offers real-time ordering, live pricing and working capital loans that range from ₹1,000 to ₹15 lakh. Fundly.ai doesn't lend directly; instead, it operates as the technology scaffold for RBI-registered NBFC partners including UGRO Capital, Dhami Finance and Karamiyoti Sales.
The startup claims it has now disbursed more than ₹1,093 crore and serves over 4,100 retailers and distributors across 24 cities and 600 pincodes. A Pune pilot involving roughly 3,000 retailers and multiple distributors is the template the company hopes to replicate nationwide. The fresh funding will scale that transaction-and-settlement infrastructure, onboard new distributors and build analytics programs that let pharma manufacturers pull distribution-level insights from the network.
Fundly.ai operates in a fragmented but fast-expanding market. India's pharma distribution and logistics sector has been growing steadily, though exact current valuations vary depending on the source. The opportunity has drawn a crowded field: Retailio, the B2B distribution arm of API Holdings (better known for PharmEasy), reported serving more than 105,000 pharmacies across 96 cities in FY23. Pharmarack offers a competing B2B commerce-to-insights platform, and the landscape shifted again when CureBay acquired Saveo's pharma distribution business earlier this year.
Fundly.ai first raised $3 million in seed funding announced May 8, 2023, also from Accel and Multiply Ventures. At that stage, the company had disbursed roughly ₹140 crore cumulatively and served around 2,000 retailers across nine cities, according to ETtech.

The company declined to disclose its valuation for the new round. With the additional venture debt cushion from Alteria, Fundly.ai is betting it can thread a difficult needle: digitizing a legacy distribution system without alienating the distributors and retailers who have run it for decades on trust, personal relationships and paper trails. Whether WhatsApp gives way to APIs remains the test ahead.
