London-based Metris announced a $5 million seed round on September 21, bringing its total funding to $7.5 million as it rolls out an AI agent designed to bring order to the fragmented world of renewable energy operations.
The round was co-led by PT1 Ventures, Octopus Ventures, AENU and Blackfinch Ventures, with Plug and Play and Love Ventures joining as well. The timing wasn't accidental. Metris launched Metria AI the same day, an in-platform assistant that fields questions about portfolio performance, generates reports and flags equipment failures across solar farms and other renewable installations.
For founder Natasha Jones, the company represents a pivot from writing checks to building the infrastructure she kept searching for but never found. After three years investing in climate and fintech startups at Octopus Ventures, following an earlier stint as an algorithmic trader at Credit Suisse, Jones incorporated Metris on June 20, 2023. "I wanted to invest in energy tech companies shaping the future, but after three years I realised no one was building what I wanted," she told Tech Funding News.
What she wanted was simple in concept but elusive in practice: a single pane of glass for tracking renewable energy assets that are typically managed through a patchwork of disconnected systems. Sensor networks, SCADA platforms, billing software, and paper contracts rarely speak to one another. Metris positions itself as the connective tissue, pulling in metering data, geographic information, financial records and market feeds into one interface.
The platform now manages more than 10,000 solar plants representing 500 megawatts of capacity, according to PT1 Ventures. Revenue climbed eightfold year-over-year, though the company hasn't disclosed absolute figures. Its revenue operations module alone processes over 5,000 power purchase agreement invoices each month, handling automated billing and payments through Stripe for SEPA, ACH and card transactions.
Metria AI sits on top of that unified data layer, processing what Metris described in a July LinkedIn post as more than 5 million data points daily. Operators can ask conversational questions like "What exclusions are in my contract?" or "Show me all faults this week" and surface insights that would otherwise stay buried in spreadsheets and ticket queues. The performance monitoring and operations modules automate fault triage across plants.

Named customers include AMPYR, Zestec Renewable Energy, Rivington Energy, Coversol Solar Investments and Harvest Green Developments. The startup employs between 11 and 50 people, per LinkedIn.
Metris intends to use the fresh capital to extend its AI capabilities beyond solar into wind and combined heat and power assets, with Germany as a near-term priority.
The company is wading into a market that has seen steady consolidation. Power Factors runs Unity APM after buying Greenbyte and 3megawatt in 2021. Stem acquired AlsoEnergy in 2022. IBM announced its purchase of Prescinto between September 21–22, the same day Metris unveiled its funding, to fold renewable analytics into its Maximo platform.

Market projections vary by scope. Verified Market Research estimated the solar asset management software sector at $1.2 billion in 2024, growing to $3.5 billion by 2032. P&S Intelligence forecast the broader renewable energy asset management market rising from $9.8 billion in 2025 to $23.1 billion by 2032.
The backdrop is electricity demand surging from AI data centers, a trend the IEA highlighted in its Electricity 2026 report and Bloomberg has tracked closely. That pressure intensifies the need for real-time visibility and flexible dispatch across distributed solar, wind and storage portfolios.
"Metris was founded on the core belief that the winners of the energy transition won't be the owners of the most kW of capacity, but those who can view, control and monetise them best," Jones said in a statement to EU-Startups.

Fabian König, partner at PT1 Ventures, said the firm backed Metris because "Natasha and the Metris Energy team are building the data infrastructure that makes energy assets visible in real-time, unlocking the opportunity for AI to transform the space."
The company exhibited Metria AI at Solar & Storage Live in Birmingham from September 22 to 24 and is hiring for solutions, data engineering and product roles, according to recent LinkedIn posts.
