Hertha Metals is a venture-backed clean industrials company developing the world's first single-step, coal-free process for producing low-carbon steel and high-purity iron. Its proprietary Flex-HERS pyrometallurgical technology converts any grade of iron ore into molten steel or 99.95% pure iron using natural gas or hydrogen, delivering 25% lower production costs than conventional blast furnaces and up to 98% emissions reductions with hydrogen. The company is building Hertha Chalyx, its first commercial plant in Conroe, Texas, to produce 10,000 tonnes of high-purity iron annually for U.S. rare-earth magnet and defense manufacturers, reducing dependence on Chinese imports.
