HyperAccel is a South Korean fabless AI semiconductor startup that develops the LLM Processing Unit (LPU), the world's first chip purpose-built for large language model inference. Founded by former Microsoft researcher and KAIST professor Dr. Joo-Young Kim, the company's flagship Bertha chip is fabricated on Samsung Foundry's 4nm process and uses LPDDR5X memory instead of conventional HBM, delivering GPU-equivalent LLM inference performance at roughly one-third the power consumption. HyperAccel is backed by Krafton, Korea Investment Partners, Naver Cloud, and others, and has entered full-scale mass production of Bertha through a partnership with SEMIFIVE, targeting hyperscale cloud data centers and global Big Tech customers.
