Founders
LignoSphere is a Finnish biomaterials company and Aalto University spin-off that develops high-performance, eco-friendly coatings and adhesives from lignin-based colloidal nanospheres. Its patented technology transforms lignin, an abundant forest industry byproduct that is largely burned as waste, into uniform nano-sized spherical particles that serve as a sustainable, bio-based replacement for fossil-based epoxies. The resulting materials exhibit excellent adhesion to metal, concrete, and wood, with strong wear and corrosion resistance, and carry a significantly lighter carbon footprint than conventional alternatives. Backed by Kiilto Ventures, Stephen Industries, and TekVentures, LignoSphere is accelerating commercial development and preparing for the construction of an industrial-scale production facility.
