MiniStack
Founders
MiniStack is a free, open-source local AWS emulator and drop-in replacement for LocalStack. Built by Nahuel Nucera in response to LocalStack moving core services behind a paywall, it emulates 33 AWS services on a single port with a 2-second startup time and a ~30MB idle RAM footprint. Unlike competing emulators, MiniStack runs real infrastructure: RDS spins up actual Postgres and MySQL containers, ElastiCache starts real Redis instances, and ECS executes genuine Docker containers. It is MIT licensed with no account, API key, or telemetry required, and is fully compatible with boto3, Terraform, CDK, and the AWS CLI without any code changes.
