Starcloud designs, builds, and deploys orbital data centers in low Earth orbit to address the energy and infrastructure bottlenecks constraining AI compute growth. By leveraging falling launch costs, continuous solar energy, and passive radiative cooling in space, Starcloud offers a scalable alternative to terrestrial data centers that face permitting delays, land shortages, and power grid constraints. The company launched its first satellite, Starcloud-1, in November 2025 carrying an NVIDIA H100 GPU, becoming the first to train an AI model and run inference on a large language model entirely in orbit. Starcloud is backed by Benchmark, EQT Ventures, Macquarie Capital, NFX, Y Combinator, In-Q-Tel, and others, and is part of NVIDIA's Inception Program.
