
Dr. Ashwin Nayak is Co-Founder and CTO of UpDoc, the first FDA-cleared clinical AI company building physician-grade agentic AI that delivers real-time care for patients with chronic conditions.
Ashwin earned his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency at Stanford, and holds an MS in Clinical Informatics Management from Stanford University School of Medicine, where he also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and practicing hospitalist.
As a trained physician, board-certified Clinical Informatician, and software engineer, Ashwin brings a rare interdisciplinary perspective to building agentic AI solutions that combine clinical rigor with technical innovation.
Ashwin built the first Remote Patient Intervention (RPI) system, led a landmark prospective randomized controlled trial at Stanford Medicine published in JAMA Network Open, and co-authored influential work on AI payment reform alongside Andy Conrad and Kevin Schulman.
UpDoc has raised $18M in oversubscribed seed funding from Mayo Clinic, Eli Lilly, Polaris Partners, and others, secured FDA clearance for the first SaMD using patient-facing LLMs, and is deployed at Cleveland Clinic, Allegheny Health Network, and UCSF Health.
