
Dr. Brian Barritt is CTO at Aalyria, a Google spinout specializing in advanced aerospace communications and network orchestration across land, sea, air, and space. He is a software engineering leader with expertise in wireless networking and space systems.
Brian earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and held senior roles at Google, Meta, NASA, Cisco, and Boston Scientific. He worked on moonshot projects at Google X and Project Loon before co-founding Aalyria in 2022.
Brian has authored influential publications on software-defined networking in aerospace and received Cisco's Pioneer Award for Product Innovation for his work on the Aironet 3600 Series. He previously established an industry consortium for 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks.
Aalyria raised $100M in Series B funding at a $1.3B valuation in February 2026, led by Battery Ventures and J2 Ventures. The company partners with Telesat, NASA, Airbus, ESA, and the U.S. government on next-generation satellite communications.
Aalyria's Spacetime platform orchestrates multi-domain networks in real-time, while its Tightbeam laser terminals enable ultra-high-speed optical communications. The technology supports commercial LEO constellations and critical defense missions across multiple continents.
