Dr. Leighton Turner is Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer at Juno Bio, a pioneering femtech company dedicated to closing the gender health gap through precision vaginal microbiome testing and multi-omics.
Dr. Turner earned his PhD in Molecular Genetics from the University of Canterbury (2010-2015), with a research focus on infectious diseases, and went on to serve as Lead Data Scientist at Sandtable and gained experience at Illumina and Entrepreneur First.
Driven by the startling lack of clinical attention given to the vaginal microbiome, Dr. Turner co-founded Juno Bio to build measurement standards that clinicians can actually use and to meaningfully improve how vaginal healthcare is provided.
Prior to Juno Bio, Dr. Turner honed his expertise across data science, genomics, and bioinformatics at organizations including Sandtable, Illumina, and Entrepreneur First, bridging deep scientific research with applied technology.
Under Dr. Turner's scientific leadership, Juno Bio has sold over 20,000 tests organically, opened the first CLIA-certified sequencing lab dedicated to women's health in Oakland, CA, and built one of the largest vaginal microbiome data repositories in the world.
