Dr. Margot Karlikow is Co-Founder and CTO of En Carta Diagnostics, a Paris-based deeptech startup pioneering rapid, PCR-precision molecular diagnostics operable without lab infrastructure.
Margot earned her PhD as a researcher at Institut Pasteur and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, where she specialized in cell-free synthetic biology and developed foundational diagnostic sensing technologies.
She co-invented patented cell-free synthetic biological circuit technology for pathogen detection and spearheaded landmark field trials for Zika virus testing, demonstrating the real-world robustness of the platform.
Under her technical leadership, En Carta secured FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in January 2026 for its EC Pocket Lyme test and raised over €6.5M in cumulative funding from investors including Blue Forest Ventures, Ring Capital, and CentraleSupelec Venture.
En Carta's platform has been validated across pathogens including Zika, Ebola, chikungunya, and Lyme disease, with 10 peer-reviewed publications, two active clinical trials, and a EUR 13M commercial partnership with diagnostics leader AAZ.
