Dr. Max Brinkmann is CEO and Co-Founder of Refined Diagnostics (formerly Refined Laser Systems), a medtech company pioneering AI-powered intraoperative cancer diagnostics using Nobel Prize-winning Raman laser technology.

Dr. Brinkmann studied at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, where he specialized in nonlinear optics and nonlinear spectroscopy, laying the scientific foundation for the company's core technology platform.

Dr. Brinkmann has championed the dual mission of Refined as both a cancer diagnostics company and a laser technology innovator, forging partnerships with Bayer AG and Germany's National Decade Against Cancer programme.

Under his leadership, Refined Diagnostics raised 2.9 million euros in a round led by Companisto Business Angel Network, backed by APEX Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and NRW.Bank, with an additional 2.6 million euros in public funding from the EU and German federal and state governments.

The company's SRS-based platform aims to reduce intraoperative tissue analysis from hours to minutes, targeting the one-third of cancer surgeries that currently require costly repeat procedures, with a planned market launch in 2027.
