Dr. Peter Garraghan is the Founder and former CEO of Mindgard, a pioneering AI security testing company spun out of Lancaster University, where he also serves as Professor of Computer Science and EPSRC Fellow.

Since 2014, Dr. Garraghan has researched AI and machine learning at Lancaster University, raising over 11 million euros in research funding and publishing more than 60 scientific papers on AI security and distributed systems.

He advises the UK government on AI cybersecurity, contributes to the Alan Turing Institute, and has collaborated internationally with Microsoft, Nvidia, BT, Alibaba Group, and the UK defence industry.

Dr. Garraghan co-founded Mindgard in 2022 alongside Dr. Neeraj Suri and Steve Street, pioneering the world's first Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) methodology applied to AI systems.

Mindgard has raised approximately 42 million dollars in total funding, secured Fortune 500 design partners, and earned recognition as Best Cybersecurity Startup at the 2025 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards, where Dr. Garraghan was named Cybersecurity Innovator of the Year.
