Dr. Ryan Luke Johns

Dr. Ryan Luke Johns is Co-Founder and CEO of Gravis Robotics, a Swiss construction robotics company that transforms heavy excavators into fully autonomous machines using AI and retrofit hardware.
Ryan holds a BA in Architecture from Columbia University, a Master of Architecture from Princeton University, and a PhD from ETH Zurich, where his doctoral research at the Robotic Systems Lab produced some of the largest robotically fabricated structures ever built.
Ryan is a Guinness World Record holder for the largest dry-stone wall built by a robot, a 65-meter permanent structure in Oberglatt, Switzerland assembled autonomously from nearly a thousand unique boulders.
Prior to Gravis, Ryan taught robotic fabrication at Princeton, Columbia GSAPP, RPI, and Vassar College, and led GREYSHED, a creative research practice applying advanced robotics to architecture and construction.
Gravis Robotics has raised over $223M including a $200M Series A from SoftBank, deployed systems across four continents, and delivers up to 30% productivity gains for clients including Holcim, Taylor Woodrow, and HD Hyundai.
