Dr. Xavier Kohll is Co-Founder and CTO at R3 Robotics, a Luxembourg-based industrial robotics company pioneering AI-powered automated disassembly of electric vehicle systems. R3 Robotics develops robotic platforms that enable safe, efficient, and industrial-scale processing of end-of-life batteries, e-drives, and power electronics.

Dr. Kohll earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering and Soft Robotics from ETH Zurich, where he worked on groundbreaking projects including designing a soft total artificial heart and advancing 3D printing technology. Prior to founding R3 Robotics in 2021, he worked as a Process Engineer at DuPont and as a Project Manager at Paul Wurth Geprolux, developing feasibility studies for Power to Gas plants.

Dr. Kohll participated in the Entrepreneur First Berlin cohort in 2020, where he met his co-founder Antoine Welter. The company was selected for the European Innovation Council Accelerator funding, one of the first Luxembourg startups to receive this prestigious award.

R3 Robotics raised 14 million euros in Series A funding and 6 million euros in European grants in February 2026, led by HG Ventures and Suma Capital. The company operates a fully certified disassembly facility in Karlsruhe, Germany, and partners with major players including Fortum Battery Recycling, Volkswagen, Bosch, and Schaeffler through the ReDriveS project.

R3 Robotics has raised over 28.5 million euros in total funding and rebranded from Circu Li-ion to reflect its expanded focus on Repair, Reuse, and Recycle. The company employs people from 16 different nationalities and is preparing for US market entry in 2026, with former KUKA CEO Peter Mohnen joining its advisory board.
