Ekin Doğuş Çubuk

Ekin Dogus Cubuk is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Periodic Labs, a San Francisco-based AI research company building autonomous laboratories and AI scientists to accelerate scientific discovery in materials science and physical sciences.
Ekin holds a PhD in Applied Physics from Harvard University (2016), a BA in Physics and BS in Engineering from Swarthmore College (2010), and conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University.
At Google DeepMind, Ekin led the materials-discovery work behind GNoME (Graph Networks for Materials Exploration), which used deep learning to predict 2.2 million new crystal structures, including 380,000 identified as stable candidates, a landmark result published in Nature in 2023.
Prior to co-founding Periodic Labs in May 2025, Ekin served as Senior Research Scientist and Lead of Materials Science and Chemistry at Google Brain and Google DeepMind, joining Google in 2018 after a one-year residency at Google Brain.
Periodic Labs emerged from stealth in September 2025 with a $300M seed round backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, Accel, Jeff Bezos, Eric Schmidt, and Jeff Dean, and is in talks to raise $500M at a $7.5B valuation as of May 2026.
