Emil Munk is Co-Founder of Balance (YC W26), an AI-native accounting firm providing real-time, audit-ready bookkeeping and accounting for SMBs. Balance's AI agent Bea handles reconciliation, categorization, and reporting while human accountants review books and file returns.
Emil previously worked at McKinsey & Company as a consultant, served as a Founders Associate at Kapa AI (YC S23), and worked in Product at Encord (YC W21). He brings experience from scaling vertical AI applications across multiple YC companies.
Emil co-founded Balance alongside Mathias Lovring (former CFO at Female Invest) and Gus Levinson (AI researcher from Imperial and Oxford). The team combines expertise from McKinsey, 3 YC companies, and hands-on experience building finance teams at high-growth startups.
