Federico Felici

Federico Felici is Co-Founder and CEO of Fusionality, a Lausanne-based deeptech startup building the control systems and simulation infrastructure that power the next generation of fusion reactors.
Felici earned his PhD in plasma physics at EPFL and served as an assistant professor at TU Eindhoven, before spending two and a half years as a researcher at Google DeepMind developing AI simulations and machine learning interfaces for fusion devices.
Felici and his co-founder Jonas Buchli co-authored research published in Nature in 2022, applying deep reinforcement learning to control plasma-shaping magnets in the TCV tokamak at EPFL's Swiss Plasma Center.
Felici identified a critical market gap: fusion companies were rebuilding the same control infrastructure from scratch, with up to 80% overlap across designs, and no specialized supplier existed who truly understood the fusion domain.
Fusionality raised $3.7M in pre-seed funding from Founderful and Playfair in 2026, and is targeting the over 30 privately funded fusion companies worldwide that all require the same foundational operations technology to safely run their devices.
