Frank Ryan

Frank Ryan is DLA Piper's Global Co-Chair, Global Co-CEO, and Americas Chair, leading one of the world's largest law firms with lawyers in over 40 countries and $4.2 billion in revenue.
Frank graduated from Syracuse University in 1990 where he was a four-year varsity wrestler, then earned his JD magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law in 1994. He is known as a go-to strategist for sophisticated media and sports corporations, handling high-stakes litigation, patent, trademark, and IP matters.
Frank founded DLA Piper's Legal Elite Athlete Pipeline (LEAP) scholarship program to support student athletes pursuing legal careers. He sits on the Wall Street Journal CEO Council, Thomson Reuters Global Strategy Board, and serves on Syracuse University College of Law's Board of Advisors.
Since becoming Chair in 2021, Frank has driven unprecedented growth for DLA Piper, with the firm recording $4.2 billion in revenue in 2024 (10.7% year-on-year increase) and expanding into cutting-edge practices including AI, healthcare policy consulting, and space exploration. He was elected to a second four-year term as Americas Chair in 2023.
Under Frank's leadership, DLA Piper achieved its strongest financial performance with profit per equity partner reaching $3.4 million (10.8% increase) and recruited 67 new partners globally in 2024. The firm contributed over 215,000 hours of pro bono legal services in 2022, making it one of the world's largest providers of free legal aid.
