Frederik Mareels

Frederik (Fredy) Mareels is Co-Founder of Micora, a San Francisco startup building microgrids-in-a-box that ship anywhere and set themselves up without human labor.
Fredy studied at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and spent nearly 7 years at J.P. Morgan, including in its Healthcare Investment Banking group. He was also a founding team member at Pear Suite, an AI-enabled platform for community health workers, which he first joined as an intern.
Fredy holds FINRA Series 63 and Series 79 licenses and is a Certified Community Health Worker. He is rooted in Hawaii, serves as Decade Director for the Iolani School Alumni Association, and was featured in a Wall Street Journal article alongside a Pear Suite customer.
Micora is part of Y Combinator's Fall 2026 batch alongside co-founders Ashten Akemoto (CEO) and Chris Choo (CTO). The company is already working on its first energy projects.
Micora's containerized hybrid systems pair solar and other generation with batteries and are designed to beat diesel generators on reliability, availability, and cost. Its autonomous system targets 100kWp of solar capacity built per day, to power communities and remote operations.
