George Kolokotronis

George Kolokotronis is Co-Founder and CTO at Squid, an AI-powered grid planning platform helping utilities modernize electricity infrastructure for the clean energy transition. Squid is part of Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch.
George served as Head of Technology at Octopus Energy and was a Team Lead at Amazon Web Services, where he built solutions for data analytics and cloud infrastructure. He holds an MPhil in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and previously co-founded Voltquant, a cleantech company using geospatial analytics for renewable energy site identification.
George is a second-time energy and cleantech founder with deep technical expertise spanning National Grid, Octopus Energy, and AWS. He has extensive experience in machine learning, cloud architecture, and energy systems.
Squid was founded in 2026 and is building browser-native workspace software that unifies fragmented grid data into a single trusted model, enabling faster planning cycles and better infrastructure decisions. The platform addresses the critical bottleneck in electrification by modernizing how grid operators plan and manage network expansion.
Squid's platform helps utilities move beyond spreadsheets and static reports to accelerate grid planning for renewable energy integration. The company is actively seeking design partners at grid operators to deploy their AI-powered solution for planning, connections, and network modeling.
