Guillaume Pousaz

Guillaume Pousaz is Founder and CEO of Checkout.com, a global payment processing platform serving enterprises like Netflix, eBay, and Sony. He started coding at age eight and studied mathematical engineering at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne before dropping out to pursue entrepreneurship.
Pousaz joined International Payments Consultants in 2006, co-founded NetMerchant, and acquired SMS Pay in 2009. He founded Checkout.com in 2012 (originally Opus Payments in 2009) and bootstrapped it for seven years before raising outside capital.
Pousaz owns approximately two-thirds of Checkout.com and established Zinial Growth family office in 2021 for European tech investments. He founded Pousaz Philanthropies in 2022 with his wife, focused on children's safety and education worldwide.
Checkout.com raised a record $230 million Series A in 2019, the largest ever for a European fintech, followed by $450 million in 2021 and $1 billion in 2022 at a $40 billion valuation. The company achieved profitability in 2024 with 45% revenue growth.
Checkout.com processes over $300 billion in annual payment volume and serves 1,000+ enterprise merchants, including 63 companies processing over $1 billion annually each. The company has 2,200+ employees across 19 countries and operates in 56 markets with direct acquiring licenses.
