Hank Couture

Hank is Founder and Partner at LeapYear, an early stage venture fund that invests in student founders across any industry to build ambitious projects in one year. He is also a Partner at Lightbank, a $700M AUM early stage venture fund based in Chicago.
Hank studied Finance and Economics at William & Mary and worked in equity derivatives structuring at Goldman Sachs before joining DoorDash as an early employee in 2016.
At DoorDash, Hank grew from General Manager of Chicago to VP of U.S. Marketplace, overseeing a $50 billion marketplace and critical business lines including DashPass subscription and Caviar. He later served as COO at Fanatics Sportsbook, scaling the business from $0 to over $200 million in revenue.
LeapYear has funded 34 teams to date and invests in early stage student builders every three months. Hank joined Lightbank as a Partner in January 2025, bringing his marketplace expertise to the Chicago venture ecosystem.
During his tenure at DoorDash from 2016 to 2023, Hank helped scale the company from $20 million to over $7 billion in annual revenue. He led the Midwest expansion that defined DoorDash's suburban growth strategy and managed pricing, loyalty, promotions, and merchandising for the U.S. marketplace.
