Harj Taggar

Harj Taggar is a Managing Partner at Y Combinator, the world's most prestigious startup accelerator that has funded over 5,000 companies with a combined valuation exceeding $600 billion. He has advised more than 1,000 companies over 17 batches and co-hosts the Lightcone podcast discussing emerging technologies.
Harj studied Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford, leaving law school in 2006 to move to Silicon Valley and pursue his passion for technology. He co-founded Auctomatic in 2007, which was acquired by Live Current Media in 2008, and later co-founded Triplebyte in 2015, a technical hiring platform that raised $10 million Series A.
Harj was the first non-founder Partner hired at Y Combinator in 2010, helping scale the program from 30 to over 100 companies per cycle. He co-founded Initialized Capital with Garry Tan and Alexis Ohanian in 2011, pooling $39 million to invest in startups, and coined the term second-time founder syndrome in 2015.
As a YC partner from 2010 to 2014, Harj worked with breakthrough companies like Zenefits and Instacart, and created interviewing systems still used by YC today. He returned to YC in 2020 after leading Triplebyte, which helped over 500 companies including Adobe, Uber, and Dropbox hire thousands of engineers.
