Hugh Chan is Co-Founder and Chief Product and Technology Officer at Gridsight, an AI-powered platform helping electrical utilities manage decentralised grids and accelerate the integration of renewable energy.
Hugh holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UNSW, and gained early industry experience as a Graduate Engineer at Cochlear working on Systems Engineering and Market Insights projects.
Hugh co-founded Snack in 2018, an EdTech venture focused on digital whiteboard content, before channelling his engineering and software expertise into solving one of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges.
At Gridsight, Hugh leads product and technology development, building machine learning solutions that help utilities support more solar, batteries, and electric vehicles on the grid, with the platform now used by half of Australia's electricity distributors.
Gridsight's platform analyses data from more than 4.2 gigawatts of distributed energy resources globally and raised AU$7.5 million in Series A funding led by Airtree Ventures, with backing from Energy Transition Ventures, Aera VC, and Pat Cummins.
