Ian Wang is Co-Founder of Axis, a Y Combinator-backed AI trading system purpose-built for institutional and commodities trading desks.

Ian graduated from Yale (Class of 2025) and worked as a quantitative trader across multiple firms, gaining deep firsthand experience in how complex and data-intensive trading markets operate.

Ian co-founded Axis with his childhood friend Eric Zhu, united by the conviction that AI models would fundamentally transform how traders interact with markets and process qualitative market information.

Drawing on their quant trading backgrounds, Ian and Eric identified a critical gap: the vast majority of high-signal, unstructured market data including broker notes, macro narratives, and real-world news goes entirely unparsed by traditional trading tools.

Axis was accepted into Y Combinator Winter 2026, validating its mission to bring an AI-driven analytical layer to the commodities markets that represent roughly a third of global goods exports.
