Ikko Kawashima

Ikko Kawashima is Co-Founder and CTO/COO of IntegriCulture, a Tokyo-based cellular agriculture company pioneering scalable cultured meat and cell-based ingredient technology.
Ikko earned his Ph.D. in Agriculture from Hiroshima University in 2012 and conducted research as a Fellow at Baylor College of Medicine and as a JSPS Special Research Associate before co-founding IntegriCulture.
A biologist by training, Ikko co-developed the proprietary CulNet System, an industrially scalable cell culture platform, drawing on his expertise in endocrinology and agricultural science, and holds 2 patents with 11 academic publications.
Ikko joined the Shojinmeat Project in 2014, a nonprofit open-source cultured meat initiative, where he met CEO Yuki Hanyu and co-founded IntegriCulture in October 2015, formally becoming CTO in April 2018.
IntegriCulture has raised over $16.4M in total funding and launched the CulNet Consortium, an open innovation platform enabling partners across the cellular agriculture supply chain to collaborate and scale production.
