Ishan Sharma is Co-Founder and CTO at Cardboard, a YC W26 backed agentic video editor that enables teams to create polished videos from raw footage in minutes using natural language. Cardboard leverages multimodal LLMs and browser-based technology to revolutionize video editing for growth and marketing teams.
Ishan studied at Chitkara University and spent 4.5 years at HackerRank where he led multiple 0 to 1 products used by millions, specializing in high-performance web systems and creative tooling. He started programming in 6th grade and built a Windows app called Hotspoter that reached 5.7 million downloads and was featured on CNET and Softonic.
Ishan has deep expertise in memory-heavy, performance-critical browser applications and applied AI. He and co-founder Saksham Aggarwal have known each other for 15 years since school, bringing complementary skills in full-stack engineering and AI.
Cardboard was founded in 2025 and is part of Y Combinator's W26 batch. The company is based in San Francisco and has built a browser-based NLE with an AI director that can reason over footage to deliver first cuts in minutes.
Cardboard eliminates the need for agencies and long review cycles by allowing teams to input footage and goals to generate video variants, testimonials, and ads quickly. The platform is designed to become the default workspace for video production, similar to how Canva and Figma transformed design.
