Jack Sharkey

Jack Sharkey is Co-Founder and CTO at Whop, a digital marketplace empowering creators to sell digital products, courses, and memberships. Under his technical leadership, Whop scaled to process over $100 million monthly with just 15 to 20 engineers.
Jack studied Computer Science and Business at The University of Texas at Austin and previously developed multiple iOS apps including Know Snow and CTSports. He met co-founders Steven Schwartz and Cameron Zoub through the online sneaker resale ecosystem before launching Whop in 2021.
Jack champions a radical engineering culture requiring employees to have personal side projects with real users and uses AI tools like Claude and Gemini to boost developer productivity by 5 to 10 times. He advocates that junior engineers should skip big tech to build their own projects.
Whop has raised approximately $80 million in total funding, most recently at an $800 million valuation, with backers including Peter Thiel, Justin Mateen, The Chainsmokers, Insight Partners, and Bain Capital Ventures. The platform achieved a $1.2 billion GMV run rate and supports over 28,000 monthly earners.
Whop processes $3 billion plus in payments per year and serves 5 billion plus creator views globally. The platform enables creators to launch businesses in minutes without code, with tools for payments, messaging, live streaming, and community management.
