Jan Van de Velde is Co-Founder of SpectaCell, a Belgian life sciences company developing a next-generation, label-free single-cell analysis platform to accelerate immunotherapy drug development and manufacturing.

Jan brings a strong background in data science and life sciences, having previously held a role at CellCarta and received business training at Vlerick Business School, gaining deep expertise at the intersection of science, bioinformatics, and software.

Recognised for bridging biology, hardware, and AI, Jan is known for his entrepreneurial mindset, stakeholder management skills, and ability to identify commercial opportunities in complex technical environments.

Prior to SpectaCell, Jan and the broader founding team accumulated experience across leading life sciences organisations including CellCarta, Biocartis, VIB, Unchained Labs, Trinean, Johnson & Johnson, and Galapagos.

SpectaCell launched in October 2026 with a EUR 6 million seed round led by imec.xpand, targeting global biopharma and biotech companies with a platform that delivers cell-level insights in hours rather than days.
