John Horner

John Horner is Founding Partner at MoVi Partners, a venture capital firm and professional network that advises, incubates, and invests in early-stage fintech and technology companies. He previously served as Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer at JPMorgan Chase, managing the firm's $3 trillion balance sheet.
John studied at University of California, Berkeley and began his career as a Fixed Income Trader at Lehman Brothers from 1992 to 2002. He joined JPMorgan Chase in 2002 and held multiple senior leadership roles including Head of Investor Services, Head of MBS Trading, and Co-Head of ABS/MBS Trading before becoming Treasurer and CIO in 2015.
John retired from JPMorgan Chase in 2019 after 17 years and founded MoVi Partners in 2020. He serves as Board Chair of Ranqx and on the Advisory Board of ModernFi, leveraging his expertise in banking, balance sheet management, and fintech innovation.
MoVi Partners has invested in early-stage fintech companies including Uplinq and CO/AI, focusing on enterprise applications and business services. The firm combines venture capital with a collaborative network of founders, executives, and operators to accelerate startup success.
During his tenure at JPMorgan Chase, John managed critical operations across custody, fund services, derivatives clearing, and prime brokerage. He now brings decades of traditional banking expertise to help fintech startups transform financial services for small businesses and community banks.
