Jonas Knecht is Co-Founder and Co-CTO at Knit Health, a clinical AI company spun out of UC Berkeley that is pioneering a new class of healthcare intelligence trained on real-world clinician behavior.

Jonas is a PhD student in Econometrics and Computational Precision Health at UC Berkeley, holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and previously served as a Research Fellow at the University of Chicago focused on interpretable generative AI and human behavioral biases.

Jonas leads Knit's AI team and is building frontier models using imitation learning, causal inference, and reinforcement learning to capture real-world clinical reasoning at scale.

Prior to Knit Health, Jonas contributed research at the University of Cambridge's Econometrics Group and served as a Research Affiliate at both UC Berkeley and UCSF, investigating decision-making through causal inference and behavioral economics in AI-Health.

Knit Health launched out of stealth in May 2026 with $11.6M in seed funding, training its Large Clinical Behavior Model on data from over 130 million patients across 30 U.S. health systems in partnership with Truveta.
