Jordan Tigani

Jordan Tigani is Co-Founder and CEO at MotherDuck, a serverless analytics platform built on DuckDB that combines cloud scalability with local execution efficiency. He previously served as Chief Product Officer at SingleStore and was a founding engineer on Google BigQuery.
Jordan spent over a decade at Google where he co-created BigQuery, led its engineering and product teams through its first $1 billion in revenue, and authored two books on the platform. He also worked at Microsoft Research and in the Windows kernel team, and holds degrees from Harvard and the University of Washington.
Jordan is known for his influential Big Data is Dead thesis, challenging the industry to focus on user experience and simplicity over scale. He has spoken widely on database architecture and analytics, and successfully predicted 14 out of 15 matches in the 2014 World Cup using BigQuery machine learning.
MotherDuck raised $100 million across three rounds from Andreessen Horowitz, Felicis, Redpoint, and Madrona, reaching a $400 million valuation by September 2023. The company launched in private preview in June 2023 and reached general availability in June 2024, serving over 2,000 users.
MotherDuck partners strategically with DuckDB Labs to advance serverless analytics for the 95% of companies that do not need petabyte-scale infrastructure. The platform enables hybrid execution between local machines and cloud, delivering faster, cheaper analytics than traditional distributed architectures while making data collaboration seamless.
