Jose Cortes-Briones

Dr. Jose Cortes-Briones is Co-Founder and Head of Science at Wavelet Medical, pioneering the world's first non-invasive, AI-powered fetal electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring platform to detect fetal brain distress in real time.
Dr. Cortes-Briones earned his academic credentials at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and went on to become an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, as well as Technical Director of MEG Imaging at the West Haven VA Healthcare System.
With over 1,545 academic citations, Dr. Cortes-Briones engineered the proprietary AI algorithms that reconstruct fetal EEG signals captured non-invasively through the mother's abdomen, a feat once considered impossible.
He previously served as an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University and has been a key member of Yale's Schizophrenia Neuropharmacology Research Group, applying deep neuroscience expertise to real-world clinical innovation.
Wavelet's platform is actively being piloted at Yale University, LA General Hospital/USC, and South Korea's Yonsei University Health System, with the company having secured $7M in seed funding and a $1M NIH grant to accelerate global commercialization.
