Joshua Howland

Joshua Howland is a technology entrepreneur and founder with a background in software engineering, product leadership, and EdTech, currently associated with Hickory, an employee training retention platform.
Joshua studied Economics at Brigham Young University, where he developed a systems-thinking approach to product design, and went on to build expertise in iOS engineering and mobile product development.
Joshua has a track record of building and shipping software products across multiple ventures, driven by a belief that great products emerge from the intersection of strong incentives, user empathy, and disciplined craft.
Prior to his current role, Joshua held leadership positions including Director of Studios at Lambda School and product leadership at O.C. Tanner, and co-founded Seis (YC W22), a Spanish-language banking startup serving 44 million US Spanish speakers.
Hickory, backed by Y Combinator (S15) and investors including Founder Collective and Flight Ventures, has raised over $4M and built a proprietary algorithm helping enterprises combat the 70% training retention loss that occurs within five days of onboarding.
