Joshua Vogelstein

Joshua Vogelstein, Ph.D. is a Co-Founder of Flourish, a groundbreaking neuro AI startup, and serves as a Venture Partner at Catalio Capital Management, where he bridges frontier neuroscience with transformative investment.
He earned a BA in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, an MS in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Johns Hopkins, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, before becoming an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins.
Joshua has spent over a decade working at the intersection of neuroscience and machine learning, publishing over 100 papers with more than 10,000 citations and an h-index above 40 in journals including Nature and Science.
Beyond Flourish, Joshua co-founded Gigantum (acquired by NVIDIA in 2022), Global Domain Partners (acquired by Mosaic Investment Partners in 2012), Sensie, and the Open Connectome Project, demonstrating a consistent track record of building and scaling deep-tech ventures.
Flourish emerged from stealth in June 2026 with $500M raised at a $2.5B valuation, backed by Jeff Bezos, Lux Capital, and Google Ventures, with Joshua's own research showing a fruit fly's neural network is 10x more efficient than a transformer, directly informing Flourish's Cortex AI mission.
