Justin Kan

Justin Kan is Co-Founder of Twitch, the leading live video streaming platform for gamers acquired by Amazon for $970 million in 2014. He pioneered live streaming through his lifecasting experiment on Justin.tv, which evolved into the global gaming phenomenon Twitch.
Justin graduated from Yale University in 2005 with a double major in physics and philosophy. He was part of Y Combinator's first batch in 2005 with Kiko Calendar before launching Justin.tv in 2007.
Justin became a partner at Y Combinator in 2014 and has personally invested in over 100 companies including Cruise, Zenefits, Rippling, and Retool. He founded his own incubator Zero-F in 2017 and launched legal tech startup Atrium, which raised $75 million before closing in 2020.
Justin co-founded multiple successful ventures including Socialcam (acquired by Autodesk for $60 million in 2012) and Exec (acquired by Handybook in 2014). He launched NFT marketplace Fractal in 2021, later renamed to Stash in 2024.
Twitch grew from 3 million monthly users in 2011 to over 55 million by 2014, becoming the fourth largest source of peak internet traffic in the United States. The platform revolutionized esports and gaming content, serving over 15 billion minutes of content monthly before its acquisition by Amazon.
