Kailash Nadh

Kailash Nadh is CTO at Zerodha, India's largest stock broker, where he has led the technology team since 2013. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Computational Linguistics from Middlesex University.
Kailash started coding at age 12 and built multiple successful open-source projects including Boast Machine, a blogging engine downloaded over a million times. He joined Zerodha in 2013 after meeting founder Nithin Kamath while exploring financial product development.
Kailash co-founded FOSS United Foundation, Rainmatter Foundation, and Samagata Foundation to support open-source software, climate initiatives, and public commons. He continues to write code daily and has created popular open-source tools like listmonk and koanf with thousands of GitHub stars.
Under his leadership, Zerodha's small 30-person tech team built India's largest retail brokerage platform serving over 16 million clients without external funding. He spearheaded development of Kite, Zerodha's flagship trading platform known for speed and efficiency.
Zerodha contributes over 15% of all Indian retail trading volumes and processes billions of orders annually. The platform revolutionized online trading in India with its discount brokerage model and tech-first approach, making investing accessible to millions.
