Kartik Labhshetwar is the Founder of BetterWispr, a free and open-source local-first voice dictation app for macOS, and a Member of Technical Staff at Mem0, where he builds memory infrastructure for AI agents.

Kartik studied Computer Science (BTech) at Government College of Engineering Aurangabad, India, graduating in 2026, and honed his skills across the full development lifecycle including frontend, backend, and AI-powered applications.

Driven by a belief that voice typing should be private and accessible without subscriptions or cloud dependencies, Kartik built BetterWispr as a direct open-source alternative to paid dictation tools like Wispr Flow.

Beyond BetterWispr, Kartik has shipped multiple developer tools including BetterShot (an open-source macOS screen recording app with 2.4k GitHub stars) and Screenshot Studio (a browser-based visual editor reaching 28k monthly visitors).

BetterWispr earned 312 GitHub stars and significant Hacker News traction shortly after its first public release in October 2025, with on-device speech models supporting Whisper, Parakeet, and Apple Speech recognition.
