Kazuma Choji

Kazuma Choji is Co-Founder and CTO of Saffron AI, an AI-native technical assessment platform backed by Y Combinator (P26) and Afore Capital, helping companies identify top-tier software engineers in the age of AI.
Kazuma studied CS and Math at Harvey Mudd College, where he published first-author research at NeurIPS, ICML, and ICCV, and previously interned at Pololu Robotics before relocating to San Francisco to build Saffron AI.
Kazuma and his co-founders identified a critical gap in software engineering hiring: traditional coding assessments fail to measure how effectively engineers leverage AI tools on the job.
Saffron AI was co-founded alongside Robert Chondro (MIT, Jane Street) and Jerry Yao (Stanford, Jane Street), three friends who met in high school and united their deep technical backgrounds to tackle the future of technical hiring.
Saffron gives hiring teams full visibility into how candidates use AI agents to build, debug, and ship real features on an actual codebase, capturing every prompt, diff, and decision automatically scored by 10+ independent AI agents.
