Kexin Huang

Kexin Huang is Co-Founder and CEO at Phylo, an AI-native workspace that automates biomedical research tasks for biologists. Phylo raised $13.5M seed funding co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures in 2026.
Kexin completed his PhD in Computer Science at Stanford under Prof. Jure Leskovec, supported by the Stanford Bio-X fellowship. He spent nearly a decade pursuing the vision of an AI scientist, working at the intersection of AI and biomedicine.
Kexin is first author of the original Biomni research paper, which became a popular open-source biomedical research agent adopted across academia, hospitals, biotech, and pharma. He defended his PhD thesis in August 2025 and incorporated Phylo within days.
Phylo's Biomni Lab platform has already demonstrated real-world value, accelerating complex analyses at Ginkgo Bioworks from weeks to hours. The company has scientific co-founders including Stanford professors Jure Leskovec and Le Cong, plus advisors like Nobel Laureate Carolyn Bertozzi.
Biomni spread organically to researchers across academia, hospitals, biotech, and pharma before Phylo's commercial launch. The platform connects to hundreds of specialized tools, dozens of databases, and petabytes of biomedical data, with the vision to become the one tab always open in every scientist's laptop.
