Kousay Said

Kousay Said is CEO of Ecovia Bio, a University of Michigan spinout developing biodegradable biopolymer alternatives to replace harmful plastics in cosmetics, agriculture, and hygiene products. The company recently closed a Series B funding round led by Pointe Angels to expand manufacturing capacity at its Livonia, Michigan facility.
Kousay brings over 30 years of chemical industry experience, including 18 years at Dow Chemical Company where he served as Managing Director of Dow Solar Solutions and VP of Business Development at Dow Building Solutions. He previously served as President and CEO of GreenMantra Technologies, Chief Commercial Officer of Sirrus, and Senior Vice President at Leggett & Platt Automotive.
Kousay holds an MBA from Oakland University and completed the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School. He serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at SAE Foundation, supporting STEM education initiatives.
Under Kousay's leadership, Ecovia Bio has raised over 13M in total funding and developed proprietary gamma polyglutamic acid technology that provides biodegradable alternatives to petrochemical polymers. The company's AzuraBase and AzuraGel product families serve customers across multiple industries.
Ecovia Bio's facility is projected to reach full operational capacity by 2028, positioning the company as a global supplier of sustainable biopolymers. The company's technology addresses the critical microplastics crisis by enabling manufacturers to replace persistent synthetic polymers with fully biodegradable alternatives.
