Lalin Theverapperuma is Founder and CEO of Expert Intelligence, an AI platform that automates analytical testing workflows in regulated laboratories with its Limited Sample Model technology.

Lalin holds a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from the University of Minnesota and spent over 20 years at Apple, Meta, Intel, and Bosch, leading ML and DSP for iPhones and AirPods.

Before Expert Intelligence, Lalin co-founded SafeAI in 2017, an autonomous heavy equipment company for mining and construction that raised over $60M. He holds multiple patents in machine learning and signal processing.

Expert Intelligence raised $4.7M in seed funding in 2025 from Sierra Ventures, TSVC, and Acorn Pacific Ventures and serves over 10 customers including three large pharma companies and several food and beverage makers.

The platform accelerates data analysis by 180x in proteomics, reduces manual efforts by 3.5x, and slashes common errors by 5x in quality assurance procedures, processing data that previously took weeks in just hours.
