Lennert Jansen

Lennert Jansen is Co-Founder of Airweave (YC X25), an open-source context retrieval platform that enables AI agents to search and understand data across any app or database. He is an AI engineer originally from Curacao, now based in San Francisco, driving the next generation of agentic AI infrastructure.
Lennert earned dual master's degrees, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He conducted AI research at IBM Amsterdam and Amazon, and has been working with large language models since 2020.
Lennert has published academic research on computational linguistics and adaptive conversational systems, collaborating with leading researchers at the University of Amsterdam's ILLC. His deep technical background spans LLMs, autonomous agents, and semantic search.
Airweave was accepted into Y Combinator's X25 batch and raised a $6M seed round led by FCVC, with participation from LUX Capital, Y Combinator, Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund, and angel investors including Shay Banon, Founder of Elastic. Lennert relocated from Amsterdam to San Francisco to scale the company.
Airweave's open-source repository has garnered significant developer traction, with the core GitHub project accumulating over 5,600 stars. The platform connects to tools like GitHub, Notion, Google Drive, Slack, and Postgres, turning fragmented app data into agent-ready knowledge bases.
