Leonora Vesterbacka

Leonora Vesterbacka is a Founding Team Member at RedpineAI, heading up data science for the Stockholm-based AI data infrastructure startup. She holds a PhD in physics from ETH Zurich and has six years of research experience from CERN working on the ATLAS experiment.
Before RedpineAI, Leonora was a Senior Data Scientist at KBLab at the National Library of Sweden, where she led AI R&D activities including training large language models and speech-to-text models in Swedish. She also worked as a postdoc at NYU on the ATLAS experiment and served as a Data Scientist at Vinnova, Sweden's innovation agency.
Leonora was named a finalist for AI Swede of 2025 (Arets AI-Svensk), recognizing her contributions to Swedish AI development. She has published research on Swedish speech recognition and machine learning applications in physics, and has been involved in machine learning trainings since 2020.
RedpineAI launched in 2024 and raised 1.3 million dollars from prominent angel investors including figures from OpenAI, Xiaomi, Perplexity, and Spotify. The company provides licensed, high-quality, multi-modal data for AI training and inference, focusing on domains like healthcare, law, finance, and robotics.
RedpineAI already provides access to more than a hundred billion tokens of premium data, with its repository expanding rapidly. The platform addresses AI hallucinations by giving AI systems access to licensed, domain-specific datasets, positioning itself as a leader in the foundational data infrastructure layer for AI models and agents.
