Liam Webster

Liam Webster is Co-Founder and CTO at Lexius (YC W26), an AI-powered retail security platform that turns existing cameras into real-time shoplifting detection systems. The company is based in San Francisco and part of Y Combinator's Winter 2026 batch.
Liam graduated from UC Berkeley in 2023 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and conducted AI and privacy research at ICSI (International Computer Science Institute). He co-founded Lexius in 2024 with David Elskamp to address the $120B annual retail theft problem in the US.
Liam brings deep technical expertise in computer vision, AI, and privacy engineering from his research work at Berkeley's ICSI. He represented Lexius at Slush 2023 in Helsinki as part of the Dutch delegation, connecting with VCs and retail partners.
Lexius secured its first customer, Coop Vandaag in the Netherlands, and participated in Berkeley SkyDeck Batch 17 before joining Y Combinator. The company raised $500K in angel funding and was selected as a semi-finalist for the Philips Innovation Award.
Lexius plugs directly into existing security cameras with no new hardware required, detecting shoplifting in real time and alerting staff before thieves leave. The platform addresses retail theft that has doubled since 2020, helping stores minimize losses and enhance security through cutting-edge AI technology.
