Lip-Bu Tan

Lip-Bu Tan is Former CEO of Cadence Design Systems, where he served from 2009 to 2021, and currently serves as CEO of Intel Corporation since March 2025. He is also Chairman of Walden International, a leading venture capital firm he founded in 1987.
Tan holds a Bachelor's degree in physics from Nanyang University, a Master's in nuclear engineering from MIT, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. He worked at EDS Nuclear and ECHO Energy before founding Walden International.
Tan received the 2022 Robert N. Noyce Award from the Semiconductor Industry Association and was named to Forbes' Top 50 Venture Capitalists. He has helped create over 300 American companies and $400 billion in market capitalization through his venture investments.
Under Tan's leadership at Cadence, revenue doubled and the company generated approximately 4,000% return for shareholders over 12 years. Walden International grew from $3 million at founding to $5 billion by 2001, focusing on Asian tech startups and semiconductor investments.
Tan's venture capital work has helped create approximately 50,000 American jobs and supported 40 companies through IPOs on U.S. stock exchanges. He serves on multiple boards including Schneider Electric and Credo Technology Group, and holds advisory positions at MIT, UC Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon.
