Lorenzo Cavallaro

Lorenzo Cavallaro is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at BynarIO, a Milan-based autonomous application security platform advancing trustworthy AI for code reasoning and vulnerability management.
Lorenzo holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Milan and has held research positions at UC Santa Barbara, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Royal Holloway University of London, and King's College London, before becoming a Full Professor at UCL.
As a Full Professor at University College London, Lorenzo leads the Systems Security Research Lab (S2Lab), where his research sits at the intersection of program analysis, machine learning, and systems security in adversarial settings.
Lorenzo has earned recognition including the USENIX Security 2022 Distinguished Paper Award, an ICML 2024 Spotlight Paper, and the DLSP 2025 Best Paper Award, and serves as Associate Editor of ACM TOPS and IEEE TDSC.
BynarIO's AI pipeline has already discovered and responsibly disclosed critical vulnerabilities in Apple macOS, iOS, and iPadOS (CVE-2025-43377) and the Linux Kernel CAN subsystem (CVE-2026-31523), proving the platform's real-world offensive security capabilities.
