Luís Almeida Fernandes is the Co-Founder and CEO of Usawa Care, a Portuguese healthtech startup revolutionizing pediatric healthcare access through an AI-powered subscription platform.

A trained pediatrician, Luís leveraged his deep clinical expertise to build a technology-driven solution that makes specialist care faster, more accessible, and more efficient for families across Portugal.

Luís won the 24th edition of the NTT DATA Foundation Global eAwards representing Portugal, and led Usawa Care to victory at the 10th edition of the prestigious Cuatrecasas Acelera accelerator program.

Under his leadership, Usawa Care secured a $3M seed funding round led by Armilar, with participation from Start Ventures, Oxy Capital, and private investor Jorge Marques, validating the platform's clinical and commercial potential.

Usawa Care has already supported over 10,000 children through its pediatric platform and is expanding into adult healthcare services while accelerating its entry into the United States market by end of 2026.
