Luca Menozzi

Luca Menozzi is Co-Founder and CTO of Lumius Imaging, a Y Combinator-backed medtech startup building fast, smart, and accessible real-time 3D ultrasound technology to transform point-of-care diagnostics.
Luca earned his PhD from Duke University in ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging, where he bonded with co-founders Chenhang Li and Tri Vu over a shared frustration that ultrasound technology had barely evolved in decades.
Luca has co-authored peer-reviewed research on photoacoustic imaging systems and has financial interests in Lumius Imaging, reflecting his deep integration of academic rigor with entrepreneurial ambition.
Selected for Y Combinator's Spring 2026 (P26) batch, Lumius is tackling a market where 500 million ultrasound scans are performed annually and existing 3D systems cost over 10 times more than standard 2D devices.
Lumius is initially targeting vascular access procedures such as central line placement, where roughly 50% of first attempts fail, with a long-term vision of a universal 3D ultrasound platform for clinical and consumer use.
